Transaction Services – Valuation Senior Associate
Within Transaction Services, Grant Thornton’s valuation services practice provides real estate valuation, consulting and advisory services to privately-held and publicly-traded companies across all industries. We are currently seeking a Senior Associate to join our team and take an active role in real estate valuation engagement execution and support key practice efforts. Engagements are performed for a variety of services including: financial reporting, transaction due diligence, insurance, appraisal, tax, audit reviews, and litigation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct research using both primary and secondary sources.
Perform cash flow modeling using Argus and Excel based models.
Assist the audit team in reviewing externally and management prepared valuation reports.
Organize and conduct projects and services in real estate valuation analysis, industry research and related investigative services.
Collaborate with other advisory service professionals as well as the audit, and tax service lines in a team environment.
Pursue a professional designation in the real estate valuation field, such as the Appraisal Institute’s MAI, as well as state licenses.
Play an active role in campus and off-campus recruiting to assist in the growth and development of the real estate valuation practice.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field. Master’s degree with a real estate focus is a plus.
Associate: 1-2 years of prior real estate valuation experience preferred. Experience in public accounting/financial reporting real estate valuations is a plus but not required.
Senior Associate: 2-4 years of prior real estate valuation experience preferred. Experience in public accounting/financial reporting real estate valuations is a plus but not required.
Prior Appraisal Institute coursework and state licensure is a plus.
Excellent verbal, written (including technical writing) and presentation skills.
Excellent analytical, research, organizational and project management skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Familiarity with Argus, CoStar, REIS, Real Capital Analytics and other real estate subscription tools is a plus.
