International Tax Senior Associate
Grant Thornton’s responsive, partner-led Tax service teams help dynamic companies navigate complexity and grow with insightful, practical tax advice. In addition to tax professionals across the United States, our Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. Our tax services include: compliance, human capital services, federal tax services, international tax services, state and local tax services, private wealth services, tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation, not-for-profit tax, and mergers & acquisition tax services.
The International Tax Senior Associate works closely with staff on all phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients within our International Accounting Firm. The International Tax Associate is primarily responsible for reviewing complex international tax returns, preparing and reviewing income tax provisions, and delivering international tax consulting services for clients in a wide variety of industries; developing and supervising staff; and assisting in client management and practice development activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide international tax services that provide measurable value and advise clients from a range of different industries on international tax matters.
Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on international tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed.
Review complex business returns with international complexities and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gain increasing responsibility in review process.
Research and analyze international and domestic tax issues; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters.
Write and review tax advice for the client.
Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or law degree. Two to four+ years of progressive tax consulting experience, preferably with at least one year focused on international taxation. Experience with a Big 4 firm, law firm, or large corporate tax department of a multinational company. Ability to supervise staff and lead projects. Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, tax software, and tax research.
Preferred Skills and Experience: CPA, Masters in Taxation, or LLM in Taxation preferred.
Additional Information: Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
