Communications Design Manager-AM Strategy and Planning

The Asset Management Strategy and Planning group provides a number of services to the Asset Management Executive team. These services are grouped into two broad focus areas:

  • Strategy and Planning: This includes a range of services to senior executives within Asset Management, including strategic counsel, strategy development and planning, market, customer and competitor assessment, financial modeling, scenario planning, initiative development, implementation planning and oversight, and business performance analysis
  • Business Performance Management: This area of work includes designing and maintaining an efficient operating model for Asset Management, designing and managing effective governance and decision-making processes, management reporting and decision-support activities.

Reporting to the Vice President of the group, this role's primary function is to provide thought leadership and original visual design support - from idea origination, to concept to completion - for a variety of mediums, including presentations, interactive mobile device enabled reports, intranet sites, etc., in support of the group's communications programs. Graphic design elements will play a critical role in helping to engage internal associates in the key messages that speak to strategy, planning and business performance management goals and objectives. The successful candidate will be capable of supporting multiple projects across all focus areas and be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • As the Strategy and Planning communications lead, the Communications Design Manager will be responsible for producing high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Co-lead, in partnership with the Strategy and Planning team, the development of new report delivery mediums
  • Create executive presentations that visually communicate a compelling story
  • Build charts and graphics that utilize strategic plans, business analysis, financial data and information depicted in a clear, readable and digestible format that will enable non-finance audiences to understand
  • Proactively reach out to and collaborate with other Fidelity divisions, consultants, industry partners to ensure designs are on point with business objectives, accurate in their depiction, and credit sources
  • Serve as the technology resource/expert for the group as it relates to the adoption of new intranet sites such as Ribbit
  • Collaborate with content specialists to plan information architecture and design navigation systems for interactive mobile device enabled reports

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related design discipline is required
  • 4 - 7 years of related work experience with print design, web design and presentation design
  • Flexibility and skill to both lead and contribute to teams are musts
  • Possess a strong portfolio demonstrating web design, print design and PowerPoint experience is required

Skills and Knowledge
  • Proven experience across the Adobe and Microsoft Office suites, especially InDesign, Illustrator, PowerPoint, and Acrobat; work proactively to stay up-to-date on new software
  • Proficiency with web development tools and languages (such as DreamWeaver, HTML, CSS, or Flash) is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex content into visually appealing designs
  • Collaborative: Candidate should embrace, support and practice a collaborative style that goes beyond relationship building
  • Influencing Skills: achieve results with and through others and be capable of driving new concepts and ideas
  • Entrepreneurial: must be a self-starter and have the ability to identify opportunities and implement initiatives that are well aligned with the company's strategic plan
  • Able to work effectively on numerous projects / processes simultaneously.
