Data Engineer (Python) - Boston
One of the world's largest hedge funds, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, data engineer to join the technology team in their Boston office. With plenty of scope to grow and have an impact on the business, you will be responsible for on-boarding data, exploratory research and production of new data sets and potential alpha sources.

The majority of their systems run on Linux and most code is written in Python, with the full scientific stack, e.g. numpy, scipy, pandas, scikit-learn are a few of the libraries used exclusively. New tools and technologies are constantly in review and adopted where applicable.

The Role

Working exceptionally closely with the quant research and data science teams, you can expect a wide variety of work, from contributing to the ongoing development of the central data platform, to curating multiple various data sets, to supporting the integrity of data and production trading algorithms.

Requirements
  • Significant Python programming experience
  • Good understanding of modern practices in data engineering
  • Strong degree in Computer Science / Mathematics / Engineering / Physics
  • Proven track record managing both structured and unstructured data sets
  • Good proficiency with Linux platforms; expert-level version control systems skills, e.g GIT
  • Familiarity with database technologies, e.g. Oracle, MS SQL, MongoDB
  • Mentoring or management experience is an advantage
  • Bonus points for open source data analysis packages (Spark, Pandas, Numpy, Scipy) and/or financial markets experience
  • Candidates must be based in the USA and have a valid working visa (H1B/Green Card)
