POSITION

As part of Derivatives Operations within Portfolio Services, the Derivatives Data Specialist (Specialist) will be primarily responsible for working with members of the Derivatives Operations team to review existing processes and controls in order to identify opportunities for improved data sourcing, aggregation, modification, and publishing with the objective of improving operational efficiency and reducing operational risk. The Specialist will also support strategic projects and enhancements by providing business analysis, solution development and testing support. Lastly, this resource will help the Derivatives Operations team trouble-shoot critical operating issues, including: identifying the root cause of issues and developing temporary workarounds.   In these capacities, the Derivatives Data Specialist will also work closely with IT and other teams within Portfolio Services, including: the Reconciliation, Corporate Actions, Cash Control, Performance, Reference Data, OTC Valuations and Pricing teams.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities for this position will include the following:  

 

         Perform business and data analysis for strategic projects and enhancements including the development of detailed business requirements.

         Collaborate with other Derivative Operations analysts and IT counterparts to design IT solutions.

         Develop and execute test scripts as part of UAT and end-to-end testing.

         Develop SQL queries and reports to support data inquiries and issue investigation.

         Develop Excel Macros and other tools to support streamlining of day-to-day operations.

         Investigate the root causes of cash and position reconciliation breaks with client administrators, dealers/futures clearing members (FCMs), and central counterparties (CCPs) and develop remediation plans with the Derivatives Operations analysts.

         Develop project management artifacts including project timelines, decision matrices, issue/risk logs, meeting minutes, etc.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate has experience with various phases of the systems development lifecycle, having worked and managed projects across requirements development, solution design, and testing. The Specialist must have strong data analytics capabilities, specifically with SQL and Excel Macros. The candidate should bring a track record of using technology and programming languages to solve problems and generative efficiencies for a financial services or investment management firm.  The Specialist must be well organized, motivated, and possess strong problem-solving skills.   

 

 

Additional key qualifications include: 

 

         Knowledge of Cleared and Bilateral Derivatives and their lifecycle.

         Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative and interactive team environment

         Ability to self-direct and consistently deliver against deadlines.

         Project management experience is a plus.

         An undergraduate degree with a strong academic record; relevant designations include CFA/CAIA/FRM.
