The Managing Director of Healthcare (HC) Sponsor Financewill play a critical role as part of the leadership team responsible for maintainingand growing the HC Sponsor Finance business at SVB. Keythought leader/strategist with significant interface with SVB Credit and seniorleadership.
More specifically, the Managing Director of Sponsor Financeis responsible for developing PE relationships and originating both simple andcomplex Leveraged Finance arrangements for Healthcare and Life Sciences clientsand prospects in designated niches and markets. Building trusted partnerrelationships with investors and key influencers in the Healthcare and LifeSciences communities.
Managing a team of professionals, this position will coach,develop and drive deeper relationships with current PE clients and drive newopportunities within their designated markets. The incumbent will have a solid understandingof Leveraged Finance Credit structures, including senior, mezz, and unitranchestructures. Expert knowledge of the debtand capital markets dynamic within the middle market healthcare segment andability to partner well within the direct lender and regulated bank ecosystem.
Specific industry knowledge, regulatory/reimbursement andexperience across Life Sciences, Healthcare IT and Healthcare Services markets.
The Managing Director will be a sought-after advisor toexecutives and influencers, and effectively lead a cross functional team ofbankers and advisors to deliver an outstanding client experience and grow ourbusiness.

Remains abreast of market, sector, regulatoryand competitive trends, developing and delivering insights and points of viewon loan types and credit / performance trends as well as opportunities toinnovate on our solutions. Builds andmaintains strong alignment amongst Relationship Management, and CreditAdministration to continue to advance the practice within this hypercompetitive direct lending and regulated bank environment. Able to lead tohigh-functioning teams, both direct and cross functional; builds trust andconfidence with regional teams and senior leadership at SVB
Business development responsibilities. Develop and expand existing PE relationships as well as adding new toptier PE relationships. Maintain atrack-record of success, ability to effectively position bank products toaddress client needs; leverages experience to deliver the entire SVB platform. Works in close collaboration with SVB/Leerink(SVBL) regarding deal referrals and Capital Market transactions, and oversees the structuring,underwriting, and final execution of team's national portfolio. This includes allocation of the rightresources and providing expert guidance across the business as well as directengagement as appropriate in evaluating opportunities. Be an ambassador for SVB externally,representing SVB at external events promoting the SVB brand and values
Oversees portfolio management for team's middle market, sponsor portfolio;maintaining credit quality and profitability targets. Maintains active andstrong relationship with our Credit team, utilizing experience in underwritingand legal documentation to build respect and credibility when advocating fordeals. Leads product partner discussions in debt capital markets/leveragefinance/private placements for middle market HC companies as the primaryrelationship manager. Works closely with SVBs Syndications Group, providingexpertise in structuring and augmenting/expanding their distribution partnerrelationships.

Highly skilled at structuring, negotiating, closing andmanaging the most complex financing solutions to meet client needs. Exercisesjudgment and authority prudently and with proper balance for the best interestsof the clients and SVB. Ensures thatresources are properly deployed for optimal outcomes in both pipeline andportfolio. Engages as a trusted partner/ expert with key stakeholders (internally and externally). Ensures alignment of regional andcross-functional teams to deliver for the client while maintaining strong,collaborative relationships with one another. Manages a team of Directors, VPs and Associates. Provides leadership for vertical and horizontalteams.
Full command of debt financing, capital markets, underwritingfundamentals, negotiation and SVB credit appetite; ability to appropriatelyposition financing solutions to companies. Includes knowledge of both regulatedand non-bank partners and competitors. Has credibility, experience, and skills todrive growth and influence discussions with Credit. Able to expertly advise CFO/CEOs regardingcapital structure, operational efficiency in treasury.
Proven ability to build real relationships with PE partnersas well as C-level executives of portfolio companies within our target market. Understanding of regulatory and reimbursementtrends as payor/provider dynamics. Healthcare network relevant for SVBs targetmarket, present and/or future. Leadership track-record of successfullybuilding teams and ability to lead cross-functional teams. Full command oflegal documentation and ability to drive successful negotiations.
Demonstrated leadership ability across all parts of thebusiness resulting in near-flawless execution; proven ability to lead diverseteams to successful outcomes; consistently practices SVBs Core Values in allhe/she does; demonstrated ability to develop other SVBers. Bachelors degree required (Masters degree desirable) witha minimum of 10 years of relevant management experience.
Significant Travel isanticipated in designated markets and/or to client locations as needed
