We are known for our candor in sharing our views with clients and for our willingness to take bold, differentiated positions when opportunities warrant.  Job Description We are looking to hire an analyst to join GMOs Special Opportunities Fund in our Boston office. The Special Opportunities Fund concentrates its capital in 12-15 long positions in public securities, focusing on companies with growing competitive advantages and long reinvestment runways. The analyst will work alongside the funds portfolio manager in identifying investment ideas and analyzing them in detail. This will often involve researching companies with unique products, leaders, or organizational cultures. A large portion of the analyst's time will be spent performing primary research. Responsibilities will include analyzing financial statements, reviewing court filings, reviewing credit agreements, interpreting new regulatory laws, speaking to industry experts, and other research related tasks. Qualifications: -1-4 years of relevant experience (any combination of investment banking or investment management). Backgrounds in restructuring or value investing are preferred, but not required. - Insatiable curiosity with demonstrated evidence of self-directed research - Demonstrated interest and passion for investing, as evidenced by relevant coursework or your own self-study of the investment field - Concise writing skills and comfort with presenting research conclusions orally - Comfortable working collaboratively within a small team - Available for a mid-2020 start date
