Senior Portfolio Manager
Senior Equity Beta Portfolio Manager (State Street Bank and Trust Company; Boston, Massachusetts ): The Senior Equity Beta Portfolio Manager will be the lead Portfolio Manager (PM) for quantitative factor-based and market capitalization weighted equity index portfolios on behalf of pension plans, defined contribution plans, endowments, foundations, and mutual funds/ETFs. These funds will include fully replicated index mandates, optimized funds, as well as proprietary rules-based single and multi-factor strategies. Specific duties include: Implement large equity and derivative based mandates for sophisticated clients and complex funds; Conduct quantitative research on index changes, smart beta strategies, and support of new product development; Review client portfolios, and work on client-directed research projects; Implement policies and programs approved by management and the investment committee; Suggest process improvements to increase profitability of group and performance of portfolios; Meet with major clients for portfolio reviews and new business opportunities; Act as a resource for clients, compliance, risk, and client facing personnel by answering questions and providing insight on equity index related issues; and Advise Junior and Intermediate Portfolio Managers on challenging issues.
Minimum requirements are: Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Finance, Economics, or related field; and 9 years of experience in financial services industry, including at least 5 years of experience in investment management.
Must have: Demonstrated analytical skills and acute attention to detail in investment management; Demonstrated experience as lead PM for smart beta and market cap equity index funds; Demonstrated knowledge of trading strategies for global equity portfolios for both index changes and cash flow implementation; Proven understanding of the many global equity benchmarks and their methodologies; Proven understanding of factor-based strategies and research; Demonstrated experience collaborating with portfolio management, trading, operations, compliance and other internal groups as needed across global locations; Experience using industry-standard portfolio optimization models/software; Proven in-depth understanding of risk models, risk decomposition and risk reporting and attribution and Ability to adhere to business and client expectations.
