Strategy Analyst-Asset Management Strategy and Planning Group

The Asset Management Strategy and Planning group provides a number of services to the Asset Management Executive team. These services are grouped into two broad focus areas:

Business Performance Management: This area of work includes designing and maintaining an efficient operating model for Asset Management, designing and managing effective governance and decision-making processes, management reporting and decision-support activities.

Strategy and Planning: This includes a range of services to senior executives within Asset Management, including strategic counsel, strategy development and planning, market, customer and competitor assessment, financial modeling, scenario planning, initiative development, implementation planning and oversight, and business performance analysis

As a member of the Asset Management Strategy and Planning Group this individual will act both independently and as part of a team to support the broader Asset Management organization. This role's primary function is to support the development, facilitation and monitoring of business performance management practices as well as the development of impactful strategies for Asset Management. The successful candidate will be capable of supporting multiple projects across all focus areas and be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The Analyst works as an integral member of the group. Key responsibilities for this position include the following:
    • Employ innovative methods and creative thinking to develop detailed analysis that drives actionable recommendations. Typical analyses include: key performance indicator analysis, initiative and investment portfolio review and assessment, market analysis, competitor intelligence, customer research, product assessment, and financial analysis/modeling
    • Conduct secondary research to understand industry trends, competitors, customers, regulatory changes, or technology changes
    • Interact with Fidelity personnel at various levels, including senior executives, to gather data and build consensus
    • Be a thought partner within the group, supporting the development of insights, processes and information that is valued by the business
    • Support senior management in the development and execution of strategic solutions
    • Prepare high-quality documents and presentations to articulate opportunities and recommendations
  • Initially, the successful candidate will spend all of his / her time on activities that primarily support business performance management focus areas, including but not limited to the following:
    • Working as an integrated team member of selected Asset Management Strategy and Planning work streams, including day-to-day management of the tasks related to individual work streams, including producing regular scorecards and business investments initiative status updates, attending regular working sessions, and mapping project plans
    • Interacting with project team leads to ensure best practices in planning, execution and tracking are being adhered to and appropriate issues escalated
    • Working with business partners to drive improved business analytics and analysis, both financial and operational in nature
    • Supporting projects across the organization to identify and present actionable strategic and analytic insights that will help senior management make informed decisions
    • Drive and maintain projects that support the overall program management, such as SharePoint/Ribbit sites, shared calendars, communication plans and scorecard deliverables and tracking

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree combined with a minimum of 5 years full time work experience, preferably in a Financial Analyst or Consulting role
  • Working toward an MBA or similar advanced degree or certification is also desired
  • Experience in financial services is highly desired

    • Proven ability and flexibility to manage multiple priorities on a deadline basis
    • Software skills including Microsoft Office Suite, SimFund
    • Strong conceptual skills tempered by a bottom-line business orientation
    • Strong communication skills in written, verbal and presentation form
    • Strong organization, prioritization and project management skills
    • Strong relationship management/business partnership skills
