The AlternativeInvestment Partners Private Markets (AIP) team resides within MSIM and hasinvested nearly $20bn in opportunities in a variety of private markets investmentstrategies including primary fund investing, co-investing, and secondary marketinvesting. This team is staffed with over 50 professionals and has offices in suburbanPhiladelphia, New York, London and Hong Kong.

AIP is seekingcandidates from top business schools for a Senior Associate position basedin suburban Philadelphia on its primaries/co-investment team, which managesprivate equity fund investing as well as co-investing in direct deals.

Investment professionalsat the Senior Associate level work closely with Portfolio Managers on 3-4person deal teams and are responsible for investment analysis and execution,opportunity sourcing, and portfolio monitoring. The private equity program spans asset classes from venture capital toleveraged buyouts and special situations. The position entails travel on up to 40% of assignments.

Responsibilities:

  • Manageinvestment sourcing, opportunity diligence and evaluation, and portfoliomonitoring by reviewing inbound investment materials, meeting with privateequity fund managers, and assessing performance of specific companies and funds

  • Structureand lead research on a wide range of geographies, industries, companies, andmacroeconomic trends

  • Directjunior investment staff in the creation and execution of financial analyses insupport of the investment process (e.g., comparable company valuation analyses,LBO models, investment return projections with sensitivity analyses, trackrecord analyses)

  • Leadstrategic initiatives with cross-functional teams related to technology,data/systems, marketing, business development, sourcing, and business planning


Qualifications:   

  • MBA from a leading business school highly preferred

  • An undergraduate degree from a leading university

  • Prior experience in private equity, investment banking, equity research, and/or management consulting

  • Highly motivated self-starter with a team orientation

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Extensive quantitative modeling experience with an excellent understanding of financial concepts and valuation

  • Exceptional project management and execution skills with an ability to meet challenging deadlines while maintaining a high degree of quality and accuracy

  • A high level of intellectual curiosity in developing knowledge of the private equity and capital markets
