Job Summary

Barings is embarking on an exciting and dramatic evolution as a global asset management company in order to become more client-centric, technologically-enabled, and data-driven. As part of this evolution, we are seeking a senior strategic leader, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, to lead our Platform Architecture & Delivery team.

Primary Responsibilities

This role will require a technology leader with broad experience and demonstrated operating acumen at scale across a number of disciplines including Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Design and Optimization, Cloud Services, Digital Communication Networks, Platform Consolidation/Optimization, Software Engineering, Technology Operations, and End-User Computing. In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate significant skill across a range of leadership competencies that are attached below. Primary immediate job responsibilities include:

  • Develop and articulate a multi-year technology strategy and accompanying resource plan, and successfully syndicate it with executive leadership stakeholders.
  • Build and lead a strong global Platform Architecture & Delivery team to drive the evolution in alignment with the companys strategy. Attract, develop, and retain top technology talent needed to execute the multiyear strategy defined, wherever in the world that talent is found.
  • Define, select and operate all core compute, communications, application software, enterprise support/collaboration, and analytic systems, whether self-managed or through partnerships, required to support and improve ongoing business operations.
  • In concert with the Chief Data Officer, develop and implement a modern API platform model
  • Drive mobile-centric operating practices
  • Lead an aggressive migration to a hybrid public cloud platform.
  • Develop an aggressive adoption of agile and dev/ops practices to improve operating agility and delivery reliability as needed to support executional and financial expectations.
  • In partnership with the Chief Data Officer, design, build, and operate a robust data ingestion, management, and analytics platform.
  • Development and management of offshore or nearshore partnerships
  • Imaginative use of data and relationship-building to drive significant transformational change in the existing organizational culture and operational practices
  • Develop a PAD operating and project dashboard that uses KPIs and time-series analysis to evaluate performance and improve predictable delivery (the scorecard methodology will be developed and administered by the Business Planning and Reporting leader).
  • Deliver on digital technology goals in a way that lowers operating unit costs year over year as defined by annual goals
  • Spectacular communication and syndication skills across a global enterprise, including C-suite and board constituencies
  • Knowledge transfer of all these capabilities as needed in order to build organization capacity and reinforce desired cultural norms
  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent and produce high levels of teammate engagement while leading though transformational change


  • You will have at least 10 years of technical leadership experience and demonstrated success within a large-scale and global technology environment, preferably with at least 5 years of applied experience in asset management companies
  • You have developed technology strategy in a large enterprise, prepared and executed complex roadmaps, and led multinational teams
  • You can cite numerous examples of leading transformational change projects simultaneously.
  • You have dealt with improving current operations, transforming a company both culturally and technically, and enabled M&A capability simultaneously.
  • You can move easily between the strategic and operational delivery, the present and the future
  • You are a restless innovator with excellent communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships across diverse teams
