Job Summary

Barings is seeking a Chief People Officer to lead the people strategy for the firm. The Chief People Officer will ensure that the firms employees are capably deployed to drive exceptional outcomes for the firms clients and stakeholders. In addition, the successful candidate will set the standard, tone and direction of the People strategy and will ensure a culture of integrity, high-performance, fairness, teamwork, growth and people development to achieve the firms visions, goals and targets.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the firm
  • Build upon a global, high performing and collaborative culture
  • Make improvements to the current People and Culture roadmap
  • Improve and sustain employee engagement
  • Function as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management of each business unit or specialty group regarding key objectives of the firm
  • Using data and fact-based analysis to anticipate talent needs and provide insights to the business for competitive decision making
  • Constantly reviewing and assessing the culture of the organization globally through active, vocal engagement with leaders and managers and taking the steps necessary to maintain the firms culture, vision and values
  • Attracting, recruiting and retaining employees and providing mentoring and career development
  • Coordinating with the regional and global HR business partners and ensuring the processes, policies, and services are implemented, observed and meet the needs of the buinsess
  • Challenging current/traditional ways of thinking and defining innovative ways of working to best serve the firms clients and employees needs through transformation
  • Play a key advisory role in helping the firm sharpen its structure to respond to and support rapid growth, change in culture while maintaining employee engagement
  • Proactively managing the talent pipeline to ensure the business is future proofed by ensuring talent is available and able to meet future growth and adapt to the changing environment
  • Leading all People-related aspects of any M&A activity across the total lifecycle
  • Promoting the one team culture throughout the firm and acting as a highly visible role model to motivate exceptional performance and teamwork across the firm
  • Leading by creating strong relationships and trust, innovative People practices, and inspiring teams and leaders towards outstanding People outcomes
  • Inspiring and promoting a positive and accountable work environment
  • Managing the planning, organization and controls for multiple functional areas and teams

Required Qualifications

Barings would like to recuit a highly experienced human resources professional who is a visible and inspirational leader with proven success in partnering with senior business leaders, direct reports and global peers. The successful candidate will have expertise in creating and delivering people strategies that add measurable value in key areas. He/she will have 10-15+ years of relevant experience, ideally in an asset management firm or in another business services sector. Earlier background in mergers and acquisitions and integrating acquired platforms will be valuable.

The individual must have exceptional strategic planning ability in addition to a keen operational perspective, to help drive efficiencies and synergies across Barings broad and multi-faceted platform. He/she must have experience developing a high performing team at the pace of business growth, including attraction, selection and retention of top tier professionals. The successful candidate will also have experience overseeing a large, global team with a demonstrated track record of working in a highly matrixed, organizationally complex business with multiple stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a reputation of credibility, uncompromising ethics and proven success as a trusted advisor and partner to senior level executives. He/she must have the ability to deliver excellent client satisfaction and outcomes and anticipate and deliver holistic solutions to most pressing needs.

He/she will also demonstrate the presence and maturity required for a highly visible, executive leadership role in the firm.
