Role Value Proposition:
The Corporate Communications internship is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-moving communications team in a dynamic, start-up environment. The Corporate Communications intern will help develop and distribute a wide variety of content for external and internal audiences. Reporting to the Leader of Public Relations and Financial Communications, the intern will support key communications processes, including the preparation of press releases and talking points, while helping refine messaging to best convey information to company stakeholders.

This is a 10-week paid internship June 4 through August 10, 2018 in our Charlotte, NC office. The Brighthouse Financial Intern Program offers work experience with practical application and skill development as well as professional learning/development opportunities, networking events including senior leader interaction, community service events and competitive pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write draft documents for external and internal audiences in line with the company's editorial calendar and communications needs
  • Develop concepts for communicating news and information to company stakeholders
  • Proofread documents to help refine language and ensure clear and consistent messaging
  • Help distribute communications across the company via a number of mediums, including email, video and the company intranet

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
  • Demonstrated written communication skills
  • Strong communicator through a variety of mediums
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with SharePoint a plus
  • Comfortable attending meetings and interacting with senior leaders at the company
  • Pursuing a degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related discipline; preference for rising juniors
