Private Equity/Real Assets - Analyst

Location: Charlotte, NC or New York, NY

Job Summary

The Private Equity/Real Assets (PE/RA) division of Barings LLC, is seeking a private equity investment analyst. The candidate will be responsible for underwriting/closing new private equity opportunities, monitoring portfolio companies, industry/strategy research and assisting product management. The position will be located in Barings' Charlotte, NC office and will report to a senior Managing Director on the PE/RA team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities are to facilitate the growth and development of PE/RAs private equity portfolio. Investment activities include:
    • Lead new business development and marketing efforts, including maintaining detailed pipeline of prospects and potential deals
    • Aid in developing investment thesis and authoring investment memorandums
    • Support due diligence on new opportunities
  • In addition to specific deal related activities, the candidate will be responsible for:
    • The development and maintenance of the deal pipeline and portfolio monitoring systems
    • Developing and maintaining industry overviews and valuation metrics
    • Aiding in corporate development activities and supporting PE/RA Product Management
  • Candidate will be an integral member of the PE/RA team and work with senior members of the team in the underwriting and analysis of investments. Candidate will develop a deep understanding of the PE/RA business and be able to articulate that knowledge internally and externally
  • Candidate will report to a senior Managing Director of PE/RA and will have significant interaction with other Barings investment teams


  • Bachelor's Degree preferably with a focus on Finance.
  • 2-3 years of investment related or other finance (accounting, audit, consulting) related experience
  • Demonstrate strong financial modeling and analysis capabilities
  • Preferred experience and/or interest within the Financial Services, Healthcare/Pharmaceutical, Infrastructure, Telecommunications or Transportation sectors
  • Understanding of private equity market dynamics
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with high-level executives
  • Presentation experience and refined verbal and written communications skills
  • Self-starter, must be organized and able to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Some travel required (<25%)
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and time-sensitive deliverables with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
