We Offer
The Corporate Legal Group (CLG) provides across and within divisions legal services and expert based advice related to the Corporate Center Functions (i.e. Bank Regulatory topics, bank-wide proprietary M&A and Capital Markets, Treasury, Funding, Public Disclosure, Data Management, IT & non-IT outsourcing, Sourcing and IP for all Divisions and the Functions), to the Executive Offices of the Chairman and the CEO for corporate matters, and in all other Corporate Center related activities of the firm. It also defines the strategy for a consistent treatment of legal questions related to the Corporate Center Functions across all divisions.

As a leader for the Legal Support for Data Management, IP & Sourcing team, you will be responsible for:
  • You provide advisory support and leadership on privacy, data protection, information management, bank client confidentiality, outsourcing and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) related matters.
  • You support branding, marketing, sponsoring, Intellectual Property (copyrights, trademarks, patents, etc.) and sourcing (IT/non-IT) legal questions; negotiating and drafting related agreements.
  • You lead a team of legal professionals responsible for the foregoing in the Americas.
  • You have frequent interaction with senior management.
  • You get to work with interesting and dynamic activity in a global, fast developing and highly sensitive environment.
  • You developing excellent working relationship and liaising with the business as well as IT risk and other control functions.

You Offer
  • Juris Doctor from a nationally recognized law school.
  • Admitted to practice law (and in good standing) in at least one state in the United States, with a solid preference for New York.
  • At least 10 years professional experience as a lawyer, either in-house with a global or national company or with a national law firm, negotiating and drafting technology and non-technology agreements and addressing intellectual property, privacy, data protection, and information management issues in a wide variety of contexts. Prior experience in the financial services industry or with financial services clients is a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of the relevant legal and regulatory regimes and requirements.
  • Subject matter expertise, high flexibility, motivation, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • People management experience.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with regard to communicating with a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Reliable self-starter who requires minimal management oversight for day-to-day work responsibilities.
  • Ability to positively influence outcomes, particularly in difficult matters.
  • Solid attention to detail with a pro-active approach to solving and preventing problems.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing priorities.
