Tax Manager – Privately Held Business (“PHB”)
The Tax Manager works closely with clients and staff on all phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients. The PHB team provides a variety of services to our privately held clients in the areas of tax consulting, tax reporting, and tax technology and Implementation. Responsibilities include interacting closely with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise; providing primary and secondary review of complex tax returns; developing and managing staff; and working closely with leadership and staff on client management, practice development, and business development activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage multiple client service teams on client engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects; provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients; and actively assist in proposal activities.
Supervise, train, and mentor senior associates, associates, and interns on tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews.
Conduct primary and secondary review of complex tax returns; including Forms 1120S and 1120; make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities.
Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters.
Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities.
Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure deadlines are met, and enhance client relationships.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA, or JD/active law license required.
Four to seven plus years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience in public accounting or a combination of industry and public accounting experience.
Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills.
Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
Strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Additional Information: Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
