Product Control Manager
Our client, a multinational financial services company, is seeking a Product Control Manager for its Jersey City location.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform Independent Price Verification (IPV) and Valuation Adjustments(VA) across a wide range of securitized products and convertible bonds across complex trading books
  • Design and maintain a robust valuations environment to ensure market valuations are accurate, timely and representative of traded markets
  • Provide detailed reports and analysis to regional valuations committees, business heads, senior managers and heads of Valuations, Market Risk and Finance on VA and IPV results
  • Ensure that existing VA and IPV processes continue to be aligned and keep pace with the business, and Regulator and Accounting Best Practice
  • Analyze pricing logic and methodology with pricing vendors to understand, communicate with pricing vendors to address price discrepancy
  • Test the accuracy of different pricing sources and suggest a benchmark to use for further IPV procedures
  • Perform bid/offer calibration and yield calibration for securitized products, such as U.S. Non-Agency MBS, CMBS, ABS products
  • Review accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports created by staff to assess accuracy, completeness,
    and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Review and approve budgets and periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs
  • Create recordkeeping and accounting systems
  • Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities
  • Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend and/or develop solutions to business and financial problems
  • Review and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies
  • Analyze and verify annual reports, financial statements, and other records, using accepted accounting and statistical procedures to assess financial condition and facilitate financial planning

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related financial discipline (Required)
  • Advanced degree (Preferred)
  • CA/CPA/CMA certification (Required)
  • 6+ years financial and/or accounting experience; previous experience managing a team (Required)
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills (Required)
  • Advanced ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed (Required)
  • Advanced ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses (Required)
  • Expert knowledge of federal, provincial/state, and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting (Required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP; Required)
  • Expert user proficiency with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, spreadsheet/financial accounting skills, and any other related accounting software (Required)
  • Advanced user proficiency with MS Project (Required)
  • Basic user proficiency with MS Access (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of company's financial systems and associated procedures (Preferred)
