The Position:

  • Install and configure the MySQL/Percona database system locally and in the cloud.
  • Perform data modeling and logical database design.
  • Perform physical database design and implementation in a LINUX/MySQL environment.
  • Understand and design high-availability database architecture.
  • Monitor, optimize and allocate data storage and execution times.
  • Ensure quality data creation and flow within our systems.
  • Oversee data consistency and third-party interfaces.
  • Provide technical input on the setup and configuration of all database servers.
  • Collaborate with application/database developers and operations/support staff to develop database architectures and policies and procedures.
  • Implement necessary automation for database operations and monitoring.
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as defragmentation, upgrades and storage management.
  • Provide backup/recovery, replication, cluster failover and disaster recovery.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve all database issues, and ensure business continuity.
  • Provide on-call support of MySQL issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer information systems.
  • 4+ years' recent experience with in-depth knowledge of MySQL.
  • Knowledge of SQL coding and LINUX shell scripting.
  • Database design/architecture experience in a LINUX/MySQL server environment.
  • Database administration operations experience in a LINUX/MySQL server environment.
  • Knowledge related to server hardware, including networks and storage devices.
  • Experience in MYSQL performance optimization, clustering and replication.
  • Solid understanding of Linux Web infrastructure setup, administration and operations.
  • Percona and Galera experience highly desired.
  • Ability to perform code and design reviews.
  • Ability to understand large data models quickly.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and quickly resolve issues.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Self-starter and ability to perform work with minimal supervisory direction.
  • Fluency in Russian is preferred, but not required
