Fitch Ratings is seeking an entry level analyst to work as part of the Water and Sewer analytical team, a core component of the U.S. Public Finance group that covers U.S. state and local government credits. The position provides high visibility and exposure to prominent credits and projects in the sector. This position is based in the New York office.

Job Description:

  • Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative financial, debt, and economic data related to public water and sewer utility issuers
  • Review financial and cash flow models, particularly comprehensive annual financial reports (CAFRs) and financial forecasts
  • Provide insightful utility sector-related input to reports and committee discussions
  • Participate in the evaluation of water and sewer utility credits, including drafting of credit reports
  • Participate in rating committee discussions and deliberations
  • Meet with senior management of rated entities
  • Contribute to company and sector reports for general publication
  • Additional projects as assigned

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years experience
  • Strong communication and presentation skills as well as high-quality writing skills and attention to detail
  • Strong sense of teamwork
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, transaction-oriented environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Preferable: genuine interest in the water and sewer sector

Preferred by not required:
  • Public service background
  • Financial experience working with public entities
