Associate Analyst 2, Technology

Location: New York, NY, USA

Individual will work closely with Senior Analysts in monitoring and analyzing a portfolio of rated Technology & Services companies. Individual will provide analytical support by preparing rating committee materials, contributing to writing of company credit research, issuer and investor meeting presentations. Individual will source and analyze quantitative and qualitative information under direction of lead analysts and MD. Produce analytical summaries of the data upon request. Prepare rating recommendations & monitor portfolios as directed. Conduct ad-hoc projects as needed and devise, construct and maintain computer databases of information on companies followed by team.

Key Functions
  • Assisting lead analyst in preparing rating recommendation memo. Involves gathering data, preparing graphs, etc. for rating committee presentation
  • Monitoring quantitative and qualitative portfolio data
  • Understanding of financial statements and application of Moody's methodologies in order to generate scorecards or financial models, as applicable
  • Updating and preparing draft issuer comments, press releases, credit opinions and analyses
  • Preparing charts, tables and peer comparisons for research and/or presentation materials
  • Tracking news wires daily and flagging relevant items/developments regarding portfolio issuers or industries
  • Perform administrative tasks for, among other things, portfolio reviews and regulatory compliance

Research & Ratings Support (RRS)

  • Bachelor's degree. A major in business, finance, or economics is a plus but not required
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Excellent quantitative skills and financial/statistical research ability
  • Ability to work using own initiative and without close supervision
  • Strong MS Office skills: principally Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to write and present effectively
  • Be highly organized and efficient; excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work pro-actively and multi-task and in an unstructured environment
