Business Analyst/Software Quality Analyst, Development

This position works closely with Technical Managers in the Development group to define product delivery specifics, translate those specifics into platform specs and standards, writes requirements that are actionable by the development organization, maps the requirements to test cases, creates the test cases and provides quality assurance to the team. Under the leadership and tactical guidance of a project or team leader, incumbents in this position collaborate with business, sales, marketing, customer care, and development and use their understanding of platform level details and standards to help build solutions to meet business line needs. Incumbents use their knowledge from across the full delivery spectrum of systems to determine best solutions. Own the Quality Assurance needs from inception to delivery and hold teammates accountable. General Job Duties

  • Participate in road mapping exercises to develop opportunities that address IHS' business needs.
  • Use knowledge and experience to understand information needs of the business unit/domain as well as system capability to determine best delivery solutions to meet the needs.
  • Work with the developers and other team members and manage to design and deliver innovative platform solutions that solve complex business needs.
  • Establish testing criteria to ensure application is thoroughly tested prior to release. Perform level of follow up testing to insure quality of deliverables
  • Perform other duties as required.

Specific Job Duties
  • Defining the business needs and objectives for integration into the Products developed by IHS Automotive Development team. Fill in all the gaps between business requests and development needs,
  • Use the project tracking and Testing tools within the Development group to both capture the requirements and Test Cases in one place.
  • Work with different products on different projects through out the year.
  • Working across business lines, define the requirements for a product as defined by the Product Owner in the business line.
  • Follow Agile development approach defined and executed by the Technical Manager and work closely with the team to define the appropriate test cases to be automated.
  • Record and setup automated test cases on the ongoing project to validate the test cases during the Sprint execution.
  • Write and define acceptance criteria in partnership with the Project development team.
  • Own the quality assurance from the beginning of the business idea to final testing of the production release.
  • Use knowledge of the business line and the development platform to propose innovative solutions for complex delivery problems.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • Bachelors in a Business discipline with related computer science experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in product development and business applications design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work and manage diverse stakeholder groups with guidance from Technical Manager to deliver results
  • Demonstrated ability to aggressively problem solve in the absence of complete information.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and understand business needs to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a very active and invigorating high throughput environment.
  • Organizational Relationships
  • Reports directly to Director of Development.
  • Interacts with management in business units/domains supported.
  • Acts in a lead capacity on small to medium deliverables, but has no direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Develop partnerships with internal cross-functional staff
  • Interacts with other colleagues at all levels in the conduct of day-to-day activities.

  • External Relationships
  • Primary contacts are internal to the organization.
  • Trouble shoots platform issues with external customers if needed. Supports customer care on customer requests if needed.
  • Potential participates in external customer usability testing or training
