Business Analyst / Project Manager

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be a member of the Portfolio Sales and Trading business analysis team. Primarily this team is responsible for the High Touch and Portfolio Trading Order and Execution Management platforms globally.

The successful candidate will be responsible for projects within these initiatives throughout the whole project life cycle, including analysis, requirements, design, and delivery of these projects.

The Candidates responsibilities include:
Business and System Knowledge: Understand the portfolio trading product with regards to its business processes as well as regulatory requirements (FIX order management, allocation, booking, regulatory requirements, etc). Project Life Cycle Management: Manage the front to back project life cycle, including the following

  • Requirements gathering and documentation
  • Request management and prioritization
  • Use Case development
  • Release packaging and scheduling
  • Oversight of development and QA progress to deadlines set
  • User and production support training and release documentation
  • Post-release assistance
Gather requirements and develop use cases: Meet with traders, sales traders, compliance and operations to gather and document requirements and use cases. Provide clearly written, concise and meaningful business requirements to the development and QA teams. Production Support Assistance: Assist production support teams with questions and training on a post-release basis. Develop tools for providing value-add information to our users in outage scenarios. User Training: Prepare training materials for various user groups. Set up reviews with users throughout the project life cycle to ensure users are trained on any new functionality.

Required skill sets include:
  • Highly detail oriented and organized: Candidate can perform functions quickly and accurately, with little supervision required. Candidate must be extremely organized and must be able to manage his/her time to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong written communication skills: Candidate must be able to provide the development and QA Teams with clear, concise written business requirements.
  • Ability to understand new business flows and products quickly: Candidate can grasp new products and flows quickly.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple processes: Candidate can manage time sensitive issues, prioritize multiple processes and projects and articulate thought process for decision-making.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities: Candidate should be comfortable digging through logs, databases, and performing "hands on" testing to understand the application.
  • Technical capabilities: Candidate must be versed in technical concepts be able to understand implementation details, including working knowledge of relational databases.
  • Ability to work with little supervision, yet be part of a team environment: Candidate can progress overall group objectives and deliverables, while still meeting their personal deliverable deadlines. Candidate must be proactive in working with global team members to achieve goals.
  • Communicate effectively with internal clients: Candidate can discuss and resolve issues with both internal and external counterparties using the client's language.
  • Hands on technical support
  • FIX messaging knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of front office institutional equity trading from an application standpoint and knowledge of the business flow for post-trade processing
  • An awareness of the need for standards and quality

Preferred but not required skill sets:
  • Market Data experience.
