The Role: Product Manager ("PM") for Fixed Income Indices

The Location: 55 Water St, NY, NY 10041

The Team: This role is the Product Manager ("PM") for Fixed Income Indices. Over the past several years, S&P DJI has expanded its family of indices with the purpose of becoming a benchmark provider across all major asset classes. This breadth of offering allows us to attract and keep new clients, as well as offer multi-asset class indices.

The PM is the spokesperson and product strategist for fixed income indices and will highlight their benefits in client meetings, at seminars, conferences, and in the media. This role will also coordinate activities with other staff from Sales, Channel Management, and Marketing for new product opportunities, client requirements, and market receptivity. This position also identifies and addresses the product and service needs of clients to develop and improve new and existing products, as well as work closely with index management, marketing, channel, and sales to promote indices, conduct road shows, and handle client meetings.

The Impact: Sets direction for developing value propositions for a suite of indices. Develops market outreach plans and interprets results of market engagement. Manages the product development process for select areas to identify growth opportunities and develops a robust pipeline for long-term revenue growth. Meets with key stakeholders and clients globally to identify opportunities.

Directs and coordinates the market development process by identifying, analyzing, and recommending new business opportunities. Leads project teams focused on developing key growth areas (e.g. international expansion or acquisitions).

The aim is to develop S&P DJI's fixed income indices into a meaningful part of the company's revenue by raising the profile of the product line and striking foundational agreements with leading product providers and institutional investors

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains the business plan including product pricing. Researches and analyzes strategically relevant markets and clients to make recommendations on new business opportunities.
  • Conducts and leads the due diligence process for new opportunities or partners. Positions the indices for all markets and buyer types. Develops proactive strategies to respond to key performance indicators and market evolution forecasts. Participates in negotiations. Approves and monitors a product development plan. Negotiates with various parties (including IT partners, as necessary) on deadlines/obstacles as part of the product development cycle.
  • Has significant impact on the business's ability to implement products, platforms, and programs that drive revenue results.
  • Works regularly with regional business leads, internal partners and C-Suite executives from other organizations to develop new product ideas and/or support the S&P DJI products.
  • Leads cross-functional team coordinating with Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Channel.
  • Provides direction to internal groups for planning and conducting new product launches.
  • Identifies and resolves complex problems in business and product development to improve revenue generation and business growth
  • Solves problems using in-depth industry expertise
  • Comprehends and anticipates clients' needs in a way that builds product capabilities and opportunities to gain competitive advantage.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or Advanced degree, MBA, or equivalent experience required.
  • Relevant experience in fixed income research, index creation and marketing, bond portfolio management, and/or portfolio strategy.
  • 5+ years of fixed income related experience.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, including experience publishing papers.
  • In-depth understanding of U.S. and global bond markets.
  • Deep knowledge of the industry, competitive landscape, and S&P DJI businesses and products.
  • Requires a willingness to travel in order to develop opportunities and the S&P DJI brand.
  • Knowledge of global markets
