BMO Capital Markets is looking for an experienced Media Associate to work on our Internet & Media Team. To be considered for the role, a candidate must have at least 1-2 years of experience in media-related equity research, investment banking, or consulting.

As a Research Associate on this Team, you will perform extensive fundamental research and analysis. You will create, maintain, and update detailed financial models on media companies and continue to expand your industry knowledge. You will contribute extensively to the Team’s written product. You also will be expected to support the senior analyst and BMO’s sector franchise through consistent interactions with company management teams, as well as institutional clients and BMO’s salespeople and traders.



  • Extensive industry and company analysis, including data sourcing, financial modeling, and broad due diligence
  • Prepare/produce written reports on the Team’s long-term recommendations to clients, as well as on proprietary analysis, earnings results, and company presentations
  • Participate in company management interviews and communication to develop and maintain sources of information
  • Development of a broad pool of industry contacts
  • Answer inquiries and communicate with sales and clients regarding the industry or stocks under coverage

Successful candidates require a rigorous attention to detail, high level of curiosity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and internal drive/initiative. Further, we are seeking:

  • Candidates with 1-2 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, or consulting, specifically evaluating the media space
  • Superior financial modeling skills, including solid knowledge of excel
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills (writing samples may be required)
  • Academic excellence, a bachelor’s degree (Finance or Accounting degree, CFA, and/or MBA are plusses but not required), and strong professional references
