The Role Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall LSS Americas strategy build out, with a specific emphasis in developing the Trade Company business for Americas and EU clients
  • Uptier relationships with key clients in the Technology and Industrials segments
  • Organize and drive business success through improvement in client penetration and profitability in conjunction with coverage partners
  • Oversee robust deal selection, conflict resolution and risk management to ensure the business is consistent with the strategy and risk appetite of the Bank and Trade Company revised business strategy
  • Have primary responsibility to originate and execute transactions with the Trade Company for the Americas
  • Ensure strong connectivity and alignment with Americas and European clients, particularly as it relates to Trade Company transactions
  • Ensure transaction structures are in line with client requirements, market standards and the Bank's internal risk parameters
  • Monitor and deliver financial performance targets, optimizing risk and return
  • Manage business and risk management process issues by interacting (where required) with representatives on various risk, governance and control committees
  • Responsibility is the first line of defence in a supervisory role
  • Actively support origination in the region working in conjunction with client coverage teams to generate ideas and pitch to clients
  • Provide oversight on key transactions to ensure 'world class' execution of deals in the region
People and Talent
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations for direct reports and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives
Risk Management
  • Enforce a culture of risk management, control and governance, and ensure direct reports comply with the risk management processes in place. This includes (but not limited to) compliance with country-level Portfolio Standards, Trade Company Guidelines, and Product Program
  • Through assignment to direct reports ensure that adequate and appropriate systems, control and procedures are in place to comply with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards and codes, including those governing all Risk types, compliance, Technology and Operations, Finance and Reputation
  • Proactively advise and monitor all major risk issues and concentrations. Where appropriate, direct remedial action and/ or ensure adequate escalation and reporting to the Board and its Risk Committees.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role
  • Take individual responsibility to ensure risk-taking is disciplined and focused
  • Trade Company transactions are in complaint with Trade Company Guidelines
Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Our Ideal Candidate
  • Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications: At least 12 years of experience in the banking industry and/or Corporate role; with a focus on corporate finance, working capital & supply chain role preferred
  • Proven extensive deal track record in structured / be-spoke transactions
  • Strong structuring and financial modeling skills
  • Direct relationship and contacts with the major clients in US.
