In 2017, the firm and its Foundation gave nearly $250 million tononprofit organizations across the U.S. and in 40 countries around the world.In addition, more than 56,000 JPMorgan Chase employees provided 383,000 hoursof volunteer service in the communities where they live and work. The employeeengagement and volunteerism team engages a global workforce and manages agrowing slate of volunteer programs and workplace giving opportunities.

Global Philanthropy is currently seeking a Summer Intern to assist inthe development of new opportunities to engage our partners in New York Cityaround economic inclusion strategies, such as those that impact small businessdevelopment, and to conduct research for the development of new corporateresponsibility projects, particularly in the areas of criminal justice. Theposition is based in New York City.

Expected Projects:

  1. Justice Researchand Writing: JPMorgan Chase recently disinvested from banking privateprisons and is mapping out ways to incorporate a criminal justice andre-entry focus in our Corporate Responsibility efforts. The intern would assistwith discrete research and writing projects related to the criminaljustice/reentry working group.
  2. ConveningSmall Business Partners in the Bronx: JPMC has a sizeable presence in the Bronx,with several of our national initiatives landing there such asour signature small business program, the Entrepreneurs of Color Fund. From ourpresence in the Bronx, we understand that there is a real hunger among actorsin this space to network and learn from one another. In this externally facingrole, the intern would assist with developing an event series toconvene non-profit partners, funders, and other stakeholders that JPMC can hostto lead key conversations on issues related to small business andfostering greater collaboration among grantees and funders. This work willinclude identifying and mapping stakeholders, developing agendas and othermaterials for the events, and supporting day-of execution of the events thatoccur in the summer.
Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to, thefollowing:
  • General research and writing projects (talking points, policy briefs, internal memos).
  • Provide program administrative support
  • Assist with creating and editing presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Assist with the management of various data in Excel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Team player with the ability and willingness to multitask and help other team members as required.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Interest, and preferably experience, in philanthropy, public policy, and/or economic development.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) applications.
  • A full-time student, enrolled in a degree-seeking undergraduate or Masters program at an accredited academic institution
