Team Overview

BlackRock's GPS team is responsible for using BlackRock's scale, industry knowledge, and risk management capabilities to build and expand partnerships with leading financial institutions, market data and index providers achieving the delivery of high quality service to our firm's clients. To achieve each of these goals, GPS develops and implements a forward looking provider strategy designed to increase operational efficiency, provide risk and cost visibility, and provide flexibility as our business evolves, leading to an enhanced client experience. To balance our relationships, GPS executes a global provider governance model that combines quantitative and qualitative components, encompasses a consistent engagement program between BlackRock and our partners, mitigates operational risks, and sets parameters for the selection of new partners.

Global Business Operations & Technology Group, which includes Global Provider Strategy ("GPS"), Global Client Services, Global Accounting and Performance Services, Global Data Services, Aladdin Portfolio Services Group, Corporate Services and Technology Services, has 3,500+ employees.

Role Description

We are looking for a career driven and standout colleague to join GPS as part of the Provider Risk & Performance team. The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong operational and/or governance background within financial services or industry related experience. This individual will be accountable for collaborating with internal partners at all levels across different business groups. You will run strategic initiatives in close partnership with our internal business partners to promote our risk management programs and drive provider service excellence.


  • Driving strategic change with our post-trade providers to develop risk centric programs that protect our firm, funds, and clients

  • Actively address systemic risks, utilizing significant metrics and holding providers accountable for service excellence

  • Collaborate with the GPS relationship management team to drive RFP/ activity, along with KPI/SLA preparation and review

  • Develop positive relationships with key BlackRock groups and leaders ensuring governance programs are fully understood and adopted

  • Construct documents and presentations to be used with regulators, fund boards, and BlackRock's risk constituents, communicating our program and associated findings

  • Stay ahead of and drive market intelligence of industry developments and ensure BlackRock is well positioned to use the scale of our business model

  • Participate in cross functional working groups in the set up and creation of new products with a focus on provider risk profile and capabilities

  • Maintain platform(s) used to support GPS PRP Governance activity. Work closely with deal owners to ensure all relevant deal materials are current and accurately reflect robust due diligence

  • Constantly evaluate systems, processes and procedures for inefficiencies and make recommendations for improvement

Skills and Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field, advanced degree preferred

  • At least 3 years' experience in a fast-paced, financial services environment.

  • Ability to self-manage workloads and work to deadlines, proven team member, and has strong attention to detail

  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills. Intellectual ability and social skills to establish credibility with senior managers and their teams.

  • Actively contribute to the identification and implementation of improvements to the way in which we operate and to the quality of our reporting.

  • Work collaboratively with team members supporting strategy, analysis, reporting, and contract administration.
