Department Profile:
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firms books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanleys various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanleys various businesses and its senior management team.

The Risk & Control role is part of the Investment Banking Division Controllers Group (IBD) Global Product Controllers (GPC) and is responsible for managing the governance of GPC's internal controls framework including policy adherence, internal audit and SOX requests and Risk Control Self Assessment (RCSA). The individual will support IBD Finance management in assessing operational risk and provides risk metrics in their reviews with regulators. This is a high profile role with extensive interaction with Senior Finance, IBD and GCM BU management.

Scope: Global Coverage (Americas, EMEA, Japan and Non Japan Asia)

- Review of monthly key risk indicators
- Manage production of key risk metrics reports for IBD GPC on a regional and global basis
- Work closely with global line controllers to understand persistent issues and prioritize remediation
- Attend to internal / external audit and regulatory inquiries
- Present to Senior Management on issues impacting their areas
- IBD GPC representative for Institutional Securities Group (ISG) Risk Leads forum
- Work with representatives from other global functions to ensure consistency of approach
- Highlight and discuss risk issues to determine best practice and compliance to Policy/Procedures
- Owner of IBD GPC's Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) submission
- Assist on wider initiatives resulting from Regulatory, Audit or Front Office deliverables


- 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in a Finance role within financial services industry
- Ability to think strategically and commercially
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Effective organizational skills
- Ability to build relationships and partner with staff at all levels, including senior management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
