RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS The Goldman Sachs Asset Management ( GSAM) Private Real Estate Group is seeking to add an associate to its investment team in New York. The team evaluates commercial real estate investment opportunities across a range of geographies and risk profiles. The property type focus primarily includes office, industrial, retail and multifamily assets in the form of single asset purchases and portfolio acquisitions with and without operating partners. The team invests across the risk spectrum in core, core-plus, and value-add strategies that include both income-oriented and appreciation-oriented investments. We are seeking a highly motivated individual comfortable working in a team environment to source, analyze, diligence, and execute investment opportunities alongside senior members of the investing team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in sourcing and researching potential investment opportunities
  • Analyze opportunities and risks inherent in specific sectors and markets
  • Lead underwriting efforts including financial modeling of specific investment opportunities
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to analyze opportunities
  • Formulate investment theses based on research and data findings
  • Coordinate deal closing processes with deal team
  • Manage and create discussion materials for the Investment Committee
Basic Qualifications
  • At least 3 - 5 years of experience in the real estate function within any of the following: investment banking, public or private equity, asset management, lending or commercial brokerage
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong quantitative skills and high proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Argus Enterprise
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced team environment
  • Project management abilities and time management skills are a must
  • Highly organized; attention to detail and excellent follow-through
  • Positive attitude and very strong work ethic
