The Insurance Business Development Manager is a newly created role which will proactively focus on external business development initiatives within the insurance general account channel.

This individual will spend the majority of their time cultivating new and existing relationships for the firm by prospecting, developing, and closing business in a consultative and “solutions driven” manner.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a team based environment with the broader insurance general account team as they collectively develop creative ways to solve the unique and evolving investment needs of the U.S. insurance industry, while working to generate AUM and revenue for the firm.

Responsibilities include:

• Introduce AllianzGI’s investment capabilities to new and existing prospects
• Proactively execute a ‘Solutions Driven’ institutional sales process from cold calling stage through to winning new mandates
• Intense focus on delivering industry leading business development and client service experiences to insurance prospects and clients
• Manage existing client relationships and search for cross sale opportunities via a consultative sales process
• Expertly manage the client onboarding process from an operational, investment and interpersonal standpoint
• Partner with insurance sales team, portfolio managers, marketing and risklab to enhance insurance-specific sales and marketing collateral
• Maintain CRM pipeline details and rigorously document existing client engagement in salesforce
• Leverage the existing AllianzGI and broader AllianzSE Insurance businesses globally to position the firm as a leading specialty solutions provider to the insurance marketplace
•  Actively contribute to a culture that values collaboration, partnership and putting client and firm interests ahead of one’s own personal agenda
• Partner with investment teams to identify and develop strategies that are viable in the Insurance space
• Clearly present and communicate AllianzGI’s value proposition and investment capabilities to existing and potential clients
• Analyze potential client’s ALM and SAA models in partnership with risklab to determine the best opportunity for AllianzGI strategies and their impact on an insurer’s balance sheet, regulatory capital, etc.

Qualifications:

• Fluency in insurance general account investing, including a deep understanding of fixed income and insurers unique and complex needs, risk appetite and buying behavior
• Demonstrated sales and client service success in the institutional/Insurance marketplace
• A drive to succeed, an entrepreneurial mindset, and excitement toward building a business
• Consultative sales & relationship management approach
• High level of emotional intelligence, and deep desire to help others succeed
• Demonstrable coaching ability and desire to mentor and contribute to the professional development of others within the organization
• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in finance or business); MBA, CIMA, CPWM, CAIA or CFA preferred
• Current FINRA registrations (Series 6, 7, 63, 65 and/or 66, depending)
• 5+ years of experience within the insurance space
• Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills
• In-depth knowledge of fixed income investment products and vehicles, including public & private markets and pooled fund & segregated mandates across the insurance landscape
• Enhanced problem solving and analytical abilities
• Ability to travel up to 50%
