The Institutional Securities Technology Division (IST) develops and oversees the technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the institutional business and enterprise-wide functions. With a global footprint of around 4,000 resources, sourcing and managing our talent pool whilst responding the business demand is a complex and dynamic challenge.

Role
The Equity Derivatives Front Office Pre-trade Pricing and Execution Technology team is looking to expand its footprint in analytics tools and automation services in an effort to drive revenue for the equity derivative sales and trading desks. This role is highly visible and you will have access to senior level stakeholders.

We are looking for a candidate who would be interested in expanding their leadership capacity; with potential for the right candidate to start off by managing a team of 2-3 - or someone who would be interested in expanding their leadership skillset to get on this track.

In this hands-on development role, there will be work in the Analytics stream which will involve building new applications and enhancing existing ones in an effort to use our data more effectively. In the Automation stream, the work will involve streamlining the process by which RFQs (Request for Quotes) get into Morgan Stanley from clients and priced by our traders or engines.

While these projects have the most pressing need, the pre-trade space is being invested - in heavily (we've actively expanded the team this year) and there is room for this candidate to work with a variety of exciting projects and new technologies within this role.
Besides their individual responsibilities, the wider team is engaged with a range of cutting-edge tech such as Machine Learning, and we're ideally looking for a candidate that shares our passion.

Qualifications:

Skills Required
- Ideally expertise in one or more object oriented of functional languages (Java, Scala, C#, etc.) to work in a Java/Scala environment with development experience and knowledge of associated enterprise architectural components. We would be more than happy to train people to get our candidate up and running in Scala.
- Previous leadership experience or interest in assuming a leadership role in the future.
- Expertise with data structures, algorithms and core computer science concepts as a foundation for learning new technologies.
- Experience with application integration, software design patterns, frameworks, unit testing, performance / memory analysis, and n-tier service-oriented architecture.
- Experience of leading an Agile development team and a deep understanding of systems engineering, build and release management principles including continuous integration and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Enthusiasm to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Strong analytical, verbal & written skills.
- At least 4+ years experience for Associate or 9+ years experience for VP
Skills Desired
- Strong Unix/Linux experience with knowledge of Unix tools and scripting
- Exposure to building financial systems & Equity derivatives experience
- Experience with Angular 5
- Experience with Python
