Responsibilities:

 

Join the Open Systems team as part of CME’s Enterprise Server Platforms group. We’re a bunch of bright engineers working on an awesome technology stack servicing many key applications across the enterprise. You’ll be challenged and rewarded as you help build out the next generation of our compute infrastructure. In this position, you will work with other teams to design, build, and operate our server technologies with a focus on automation, tooling, and monitoring.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Linux System Administration - RHEL derived systems
  • Demonstrate experience creating automated solutions to complex administrative problems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to decipher highly technical data

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years Linux & UNIX system administration in a large environment (1,000+ hosts)
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Shell, Python, or Perl
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware
  • Experience with operating, maintaining and automating Hadoop clusters (Cloudera/Hortonworks)
  • Networking knowledge, particularly ability to interpret packet captures and diagnose connectivity issues.
  • Genuine passion for kernel and low-level systems technology
  • Experience with version control tools including GIT and Stash
  • Solid knowledge of hardware architecture, BIOS, and boot process
  • Work closely with developers in supporting new features and services
  • Develop custom tools as necessary
  • Strong proficiency with automation & configuration management tools at scale Chef
  • Self-motivated, capable of managing your time well, and work efficiently without close supervision
  • Experience in coordinating technology decisions with architectural requirements and constraints
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to decipher highly technical data
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute methods
  • Familiarity with Kanban or Agile planning tools

 

Education:

  • Technical BS/MS degree or equivalent work experience
