Who Are We?
The CEO NY Jobs Council is an action-oriented coalition led by the Chief Executive Officers of some of the largest employers in New York. The Council fosters collaboration between corporate, education, local government, community and nonprofit leaders to prepare New York area residents to prepare for the future of work and meet employer needs. The Corporation's members are helping create economic opportunity for low-income New Yorkers, particularly from Black, LatinX and Asian communities, by seeking to connect them with in-demand skills and job opportunities. The Corporation will expand Membership to include a wide range of New York employers of different sizes and industry backgrounds.

About the Role
The Finance and Operations Lead's main duty is to provide financial support, operational oversight and assistance to the organization and its programs.
You will be a strategic partner and report to the Executive Director, supporting finance and budgeting administration, human relations (HR) and project management.

Transactional Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to finance and accounting areas of the organization.
  • Provide oversight, lead and evaluate all external service providers in finance, accounting, and HR services, including responsibility for:
  • +Timely, accurate, and complete financial documents for all levels, including Board of Directors, executive, and management.
    +Assistance in coordinating the preparation of the draft audited financial documents and all tax returns.
    +Recommend and report upon benchmarks against which to measure organizational performance.
    +Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics as well as management cost reports.
    +Assist in production of cash flow reports, annual budget, and forecasts.
    +Maintain relationships with partners/vendors. Lead all aspects of and run all contracts; Develop and lead all vital internal reviews to ensure accuracy and efficiency of all systems and vendors that deliver these services, including all necessary technology providers.

    Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and assist with developing audit schedules for the annual audit.
  • Suggest improvements in processes to increase organizational efficiency.
  • Capture 990 and 990T information for the annual tax return.
  • Lead all aspects of state registration filings.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proactive, hands-on manager who will own, in partnership with the Executive Director, responsibility for the organizational finances.
  • Strategic problem solver who possesses solid eye for business and is able to prioritize and handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to interact optimally with others, both internally and externally.
  • Time management skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Proven ability to make complex and time-sensitive decisions in the best interests of the organization.

  • Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of professional experience within finance and accounting (preferably at a nonprofit), including finance, accounting, audit, and analysis (including gathering, evaluating, presenting, and reporting financial information to management and external partners).
  • Solid experience in coordinating audit activities and running reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and excellent Excel skills.
