Network Support Engineer - Corporate Technology
About Bloomberg Information Systems:
The Global Information Systems Group (Infosys) is responsible for crafting, deploying, and supporting Bloomberg's internal IT systems. This includes our global corporate network plus all of the hardware, software and enterprise applications used by nearly 21,000 employees in more than 170 state of the art offices around the world. We focus on enterprise solutions, productivity tools, and IT systems integration which helps move all of Bloomberg's businesses forward.

Our Team:
The Network and Telecom Sysadmins are responsible for implementation, day-to-day support and maintenance of Bloomberg LP's enterprise network and telephony infrastructure. Our team works closely with Engineering teams, from conceptual stage to production. As owners of the environment we ensure that our infrastructure is always available and enables our employees to be highly productive. In this team and the fast paced environment we work in, we constantly challenge the status quo and look for ways to improve workflows and efficiencies. We also act as an escalation point, develop operational processes and documentation for the service organization.

We'll Trust You To:
  • Manage Fault and Performance monitoring systems for large enterprise network infrastructure with Campus, branch and data center locations
  • Address alerts and other network events (fault and performance), responsible for break/fix maintenance
  • Proactively address capacity requirements for normal operation (IP allocation, system resources, port availability, bandwidth, WiFi coverage)
  • Escalation point for Helpdesk, and assist in troubleshooting infrastructure related issues
  • Work with Engineering teams in product testing and operational procedures
  • Work with vendor tech support teams to identify and fix issues and perform Break/Fix as needed
  • Support regional counterparts in network maintenance as required
  • Develop operational scripts to assist in troubleshooting and maintenance tasks
  • Act as project lead for hardware and software lifecycle maintenance activities
  • Network Access Control system maintenance and operational support
  • Day-to-day maintenance of Enterprise DHCP/DNS systems
  • Support Wireless network infrastructure and assist in troubleshooting wireless problems
  • Identify automation opportunities and collaborate with engineering teams to develop tools and scripts.
  • Documentation of processes and operational procedures

You'll Need to Have:
  • 3-5 years of experience in Enterprise Network support
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, routing, switching, security protocols and the ability to read/understand packet captures
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus, Catalyst and Arista switches
  • Understanding of Network Security fundamentals
  • Understanding of Firewalls and proxies
  • Proficiency with Python, Powershell and/or other scripting languages and automation.
  • Familiar with Network Access Control Systems (Cisco ISE/Forescout CounterAct etc)
  • Experience with Network Management systems such as Solarwinds, NetMRI, EMC Ionix (EMC Smarts)
  • Good understanding of Incident and Change management principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently
  • Have the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced environment with solid attention to detail
  • Ability to work under stress during outage situations
  • Be organized and handle incoming workflows
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Build great working relationships with multi-functional teams within Bloomberg
  • Strong social skills including networking, teamwork, communication, time management, adaptability to thrive within diverse environments and cultures.

We'd Love to See:
  • Experience in the financial industry preferred
  • Experience in Cisco call manager and Session Boarder Controller/SIP infrastructure and support
  • Experience with 3rd party applications such as Splunk, and Jira
  • Working in an Agile environment
  • Experience working with VMware ESXi
