Our client, a Mid-size financial firm is currently recruiting an Operational Due Diligence Risk Analyst to join their Private Banking Risk team. In this role you will be responsible for the program and methodology for the operational due diligence review and monitoring of all investment managers approved for the Private Banking investment platform. The population of managers includes all internal and external products including registered funds, hedge funds, private equity funds and separately managed accounts.

Key responsibilities include:   

Operational Due Diligence

  • Conduct on-site and off-site due diligence for investment managers and relevant affiliated entities as deemed necessary.
  • Gather information and coordinate with other areas of our client’s private banking business to support the due diligence review of investment managers.
  • Review manager documentation including due diligence questionnaires, offering and deal documents, financial statements, regulatory filings and policies and procedures.
  • Conduct key individual background checks.
  • Prepare due diligence reports documenting the due diligence performed, findings and conclusions.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of customized enhanced monitoring plans Become a subject matter expert on due diligence and become proficient in the areas of focus.
  • For existing managers, the Analyst will lead the continuous due diligence efforts around approved managers, regularly providing updates, producing reports and escalating issues to senior LOB management.
  • Coordinate with other parts of the organization to bring functional expertise to the operational due diligence process as required (e.g., investment teams, Investment Product Group, external consultants, controllers, Office of the General Counsel, compliance, audit)
  • Work alongside the Investment Product Group when necessary, to assist in the development and implementation of new products and structures.


  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record
  • 3-5 years of risk management, compliance, audit, accounting or other relevant experience
  • Direct operational due diligence experience
  • Expertise in investment management systems (e.g., order management, fund accounting)
  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment for funds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong ability to analyze complex issues and make sound decisions
  • Proficient in managing multiple complex projects at once; systematic in thought process
  • Motivated and willing to challenge the status quo
  • Proficient in key tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10%
  • Expertise in investment management systems (e.g., order management, fund accounting)
  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment for funds
  • Advanced degrees or professional licensure (e.g., MBA, CPA, CFE, CISA) a plus
