ED&F Man Capital Markets Inc. is seeking a product controller for its broker-dealer division, based in New York. working as part of a team of two you will be responsible for production of the daily and monthly profit and loss information for the company’s fixed income products and will be heavily involved in related business initiatives.

The Role

Man Capital Markets Inc. is seeking a product controller for its broker-dealer division, based in New York. working as part of a team of two you will be responsible for production of the daily and monthly profit and loss information for the company’s fixed income products and will be heavily involved in related business initiatives.

Responsibilities


• Daily PL reporting
o Create and process daily P&L files from sub-ledger systems
o Reconcile General Ledger to sub-ledgers, pursue explanations and rectify any variances
o Monitor daily expense accrual based on a variety of cost drivers and financial products
o Review P&L against front office expectations
o Communicate with front office personnel regarding upcoming trades, performance, and market activity
• Month End/Year End close
o Prepare account substantiation for all trade related accounts
o Field inquiries from upper management regarding desk performance
o Prepare variance analysis based on monthly, quarterly, and annual trends
o Calculate monthly and quarterly payouts for each desk and discuss with relevant business heads
o Review accruals and true up expenses against invoices and payout projections
• General Ledger to Sub-Ledger reconciliations
o Implement the on-boarding and off-boarding of sub-ledger systems
o Maintain data integrity and reliability
o Develop internal controls to eliminate errors stemming from manual or systematic inputs
• Invoice Allocation
o Be able to identify cost drivers
o Develop cost allocation methodology
o Provide analysis to management for total ticket cost and variance analysis
• Interaction with all levels of personnel
o Daily interaction with COO, CFO
o Consistent interaction with front office personnel and desk managers
o Work closely with Operations, Risk, and Legal to facilitate process efficiencies.
• Project management
o Time and management and proven self-starter, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
o Able to identify short falls and control risks and develop solutions to limit exposure to errors
o Leverage other departments to complete tasks in an automated fashion as efficiently as possible
o Identify opportunities to increase scalability and flexibility to accommodate new desks and management requests.
 
 
Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience at a reputable FINRA Broker / Dealer
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• Strong Excel Skills (Microsoft Access and VBA knowledge a +)
• Self-starter; comfortable working independently and in a group
• General knowledge of financial products
o Fixed Income (ABS/MBS, Corporate Bonds, TBA’s, repo)
o Equity
o Derivatives
• Experience wtih Broadridge and Pershing systems preferred
• Strong understanding of work flow and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Able to communicate with various levels of seniority
• Organized, process orientated and capable of defining, documenting process and procedures
• FINRA Series 99 or 27 qualified
