Applies experiences with existing software and/or systems development processes to develop better processes to be used in the future.

Overview of FX Services department:

FX Services is part of BNYM’s Markets. Our development team owns a number of applications that take care of the full lifecycle of a FX trade:  capturing orders, middle office, pricing orders, settlement, risk, post trade analytics and reporting. We interface with many other teams and applications within and outside of the bank. Our development team is geographically distributed, but we nurture a collaborative environment with the goal of delivering resilient, scalable and extendible solutions to our business partners.  We embrace Continuous Delivery methodology and Open Source technologies.

Overview of the role:

The associate will be responsible for interfacing directly with the business users and stakeholders to thoroughly understand the business processes, issues and requirements in order to translate them for the development team.  They will assist in design of new products and product enhancements.  They will be the first point of contact between the business users and technology to assist with problem and issue resolution. He/She will document business requirements following the DLC process, create test plans, complete functional testing, coordinate user acceptance testing and provide end user training and support. The associate will be required to understand in depth how applications work and interface with other systems in the bank and all different ways foreign exchange transactions are priced. 

Skills

5 or more years of recent FX or Markets experience in the technology environment is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Creative problem solving
Analytical thinking. The ability to think through issues and ask probing questions to identify and thoroughly understand the business requirements in order to translate them into technical solutions.
The ability to work in high stress situations
 

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business or technical-related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred, 8-10 years of experience in providing consulting advice to senior IT and business management required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
