BNY Mellon Risk and Compliance - Office of Regulatory Relations:

Risk and Compliance oversees risk services across all BNY Mellon businesses. Risk management ensures new business risks are reviewed and approved, while Compliance maintains processes compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and ethics.

The Office of Regulatory Relations is responsible for developing and coordinating the company-wide strategy and approach to major regulatory supervisory matters. The function centrally manages BNY Mellon's relationships and interactions with supervisory regulators, partnering with all business and functions across the company.

Role description and opportunities:

Oversees small team and related activities, which include but are not limited to managing the exam/engagement system and vendor relationship; tracking regulatory matters; producing scheduled and ad hoc reports for senior management, the Board of Directors, and regulatory agencies; developing and managing key metrics; maintaining the regulatory pipeline; and managing the function's shared mailbox. Guides team on complex projects or analyses and provides technical guidance. Proactively identifies obstacles and recommends solutions. Champions and manages special projects. Recruits, directs, motivates, and develops small team. Effectively handles confidential information and sensitive matters.

Key responsibilities include the following:
  • Developing a comprehensive approach to analytics, metrics, and reports to ensure the ORR produces the right information for making data-driven decisions
  • Facilitating information flow between BNY Mellon and regulatory agencies
  • Identifying and implementing system and process enhancements
  • Ensuring ORR functional adherence

A successful candidate should ideally have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • 10-15 years of total work experience and at least 3-5 years of management experience preferred
  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry strongly preferred, with exposure to regulatory supervisory models/matters
  • Proven ability to develop compelling data-driven business cases
  • Forward-looking with track record of influencing change/improvement
  • Strong stakeholder engagement
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously and within tight deadlines
