Senior Tax Manager - Insurance

A well known US Insurance firm based in New York City are looking for a Senior Manager to join their Tax function reporting to the Head of Tax.

This role will assist in federal tax process including tax accounting and tax compliance for both non-life insurance and life insurance companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and prepare federal and state tax returns and related workpapers
  • Assist with IRS and state tax examinations
  • Assist with quarterly estimated tax payment calculations
  • Assist with tax return information gathering process including interaction with controllers and business unit personnel
  • Prepare quarterly and year end US GAAP and Statutory current and deferred tax accounting
  • Perform provision to tax return computations
  • Perform tax research and analysis
  • Assist with tax technology projects
  • Work on special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of tax accounting under ASC 740
  • Understanding of federal/state tax compliance process
  • Insurance company experience a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of life insurance and asset management business preferred; insurance company experience a plus but no required
  • Proficiency in Excel and tax technology software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work and collaborate with team members and other business stakeholders
