This position is responsible for sourcing, originating, structuring and distributing multi-bank real estate and investment grade credit facilities for key BNY Mellon clients. The incumbent works closely and collaboratively with Client Executives, Risk and Legal (internal and external) personnel, Syndications colleagues and at times with other lead arrangers in providing these services to clients.
The VP-Syndications is the primary Syndications professional for all assigned clients and prospects. The incumbent is expected to successfully negotiate credit documentation with the company/sponsor and syndication members. This involves creating market acceptable structures, preparing term sheets and actively driving the credit/document approval process. The incumbent is also responsible for preparing confidential offering memoranda describing the borrower, the industry, and the transaction. This typically involves industry and client research.
The VP-Syndications manages the sales process for all assigned credit facilities in syndication. The incumbent coordinates with the Client Executive and Risk/Legal personnel to answer all due diligence inquiries regarding assigned syndicated loans.
The incumbent will establish and maintain relationships with primary and secondary loan market investors and thoroughly understand their appetites. Using these contacts and via the preparation of a detailed syndication strategy, the incumbent will successfully distribute assigned syndicated credit facilities such that BNY Mellon will reach its targeted retention level. The VP-Syndications will also assist in reducing risk exposure for selected client names by identifying secondary buyers, negotiating the best price and executing one-off secondary sales. Secondary market activities also include buying targeted funded assets from assigned market participants.
Additionally, the VP-Syndications is responsible for the marketing of BNY Mellon capabilities. This involves the production of pitch books and other marketing materials, as well as developing and leading lender presentations.
The incumbent is expected to actively assist in the publishing of a quarterly loan market report based upon up to date market information.
The VP-Syndications will provide feedback, advice, guidance and recommendations as to structure, pricing, liquidity/appetite and syndication strategy for credit facilities led by other lead arrangers.
Underwriting risk opinions will be prepared by the incumbent for BNY Mellon and non-BNY Mellon agented deals.
Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Advanced/graduate degree preferred. 3-5 years of total work experience preferred. Financial Services experience with a particular client type or product (Hedge, Pension, etc.) preferred as is prior experience in a related customer-facing role, Sales Support, Global Capital Markets or Product Management. Applicable local/regional licenses or certifications as required by the business. A good understanding of the relevant marketplace, competitive landscape and industry drivers in the relevant region is preferred. As global firm, bi-lingual capabilities are helpful as is an understanding of local/cultural nuances important for client trust.
