BNY Mellon is undertaking a multi-year effort to re-align itssystems around an architecture strategy called BXP (BNY Mellon ExtremePlatform). This strategy has the goal ofempowering our developers to deliver innovative business solutions faster andat a lower cost. The approach consists of establishing three main architecturetiers- Data Center as a Service, Business and common Services, and ClientExperience Delivery, and using this platform to integrate our existingsolutions and deliver exciting and innovative new ones. As part of this effort,Client Service Delivery team is working to replace legacy portal applicationswith the new generation platform, Nexen. Nexen is being designed as anecosphere of business services that can be exposed to end users through aresponsive UI and / or restful services.

Principal Developer - Geneva

Principal software engineer on a globally distributedtechnology team servicing the core alternative investments fund accountingplatform, Geneva.

We are looking for a team player with a strong Genevaservice delivery background, experience with agile delivery, strong troubleshootingskills, strong reasoning skills, and a proven record of success with complex time-criticaltechnology projects.

Primary Job Responsibilities to Include:


  • Requirements Analysis

  • Application design and implementation

  • Unit & Stress Test designs andimplementation

  • Application deployment

  • Support of deployed applications




  • Significant experience with Geneva service delivery(hardware/software upgrades, report development, incident management, problemmanagement, configuration management, capacity planning, innovation,optimizations, process improvement, etc.)

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Experiencewith RSL (with understanding of the user features/functions/domain)

  • Experiencewith Microsoft .NET technologies & OO programming in C#

  • Experiencewith MSSQL and RDBMS (including SSRS)

  • Experiencewith Scripting languages on UNIX and Windows,

  • Experiencewith source control systems (GIT, TFS, SVN etc...)

  • Experience/ Familiarity working in Agile development environments and use of JIRA

  • Knowledgeof financial instruments, markets, and trading and prior programming experiencein the securities processing industry is helpful

  • Consults with internal business groupsto provide high-level application software development services or technicalsupport. Provides comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to ITmanagement and senior technical staffs. Evaluates compliance with theorganization's technology standards. Analyzes information and providesrecommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific businessgroup. Guides and consults with IT management and technical staffs regardinguse of emerging technologies and associated services. Participates in definingcorporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies.Advocates for innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to theachievement of area objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 10-12 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
