VP Business Analyst / Project Manager - New York

Location: New York, NY, USA
Salary: $160 - $195 + Bonus

We have a new to market VP level Business Analyst / Project Manager role working at a Tier 1 Investment Bank, based in New York. You will become an important member of a business critical centralized change delivery team, focusing on key business focused change initiatives.

The Business Analyst / Project Manager will work at the project/process level and will be accountable for producing discrete deliverables. Projects will encompass full front to back processes of Global Markets (FX, Fixed income, Derivatives etc) and can have scope within all functional areas of the Global Banking and Markets business (Front Office, Operations, IT, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, etc). The Business Analyst / Project Manager may be required to lead / support (global) cross functional working groups or engage subject matter experts (SMEs) to support them in their own delivery, i.e. for problem solving, process mapping, process re-design, requirements gathering, procedural documentation, etc.

Success in this role will require the Business Analyst / Project Manager to easily adapt to the needs of the business across multiple functions (and time zones), analyze and interpret data efficiently, stay abreast to the changing regulatory landscape and work at pace to deliver for the business. Specific knowledge of Front to Back trade lifecycles within the Global Banking and Markets business environment would be advantageous. 5-10 years of experience in BA/PM project delivery roles within a financial services institution or management consultancy. Experience working within a regulatory change environment is advantageous.

 

Responsibilities

A business analyst must be able to take on the following responsibilities on medium to large change initiatives under the guidance of the project or program manager

  • Take a proactive role in managing workstream deliverables by eliciting, analyzing, organizing, drafting, managing and communicating requirements
  • Generate requirements and project deliverables on time and within scope, escalating major blockages / changes to scope in a timely manner to program management
  • Develop track record of fostering and maintaining best practice solutions and tools to improve / optimize work flow, identify opportunities for synergy and integration, and simplify complex processes
  • Anticipate and manage issues, risks and dependencies; Act to mitigate these quickly; handle any unforeseen roadblocks swiftly and effectively
  • Operate effectively under the pressure of deadline within a lean environment where stakeholders and supporting personnel having competing priorities
  • Exercise sound judgment, a keen sense of urgency, and high-level of professional and personal integrity
  • Build working relationships across the business and functional areas and foster a positive culture
  • Adapt delivery timelines and scope, as necessary, according to customer needs and / or industry/regulatory requirement changes
  • Effectively present decision options, considering time criticality and potential roadblocks using available information including patterns, trends or missing pieces of data to make or facilitate decision making
  • Provide program management and team support to ensure progress toward a common goal
  • Collaborate with delivery team members to ensure commonality of approach, methods and tools
  • Contribute to the performance of the team by supporting other team members in assignments and increasing the team knowledge
