About this role


We are looking for a dynamic and thoughtful professional to join our Global Corporate Communications team. Our team works to promote and protect two of BlackRock's most important assets: its reputation and its culture. Corporate Communications drives our firm's communication strategy overseeing media relations, issues management, executive communications, and internal communications.


Based in New York, you will work with our team to craft engaging speeches, memos, and content for our Chairman and CEO and senior executives. You will help build, edit, and refine messaging and written documents on issues that are central to commercial initiatives, brand, and reputation, working closely with Marketing. You will also partner closely with the Internal Communications group to craft inspiring and useful communications from executives to our 16,000+ employees.

You are not only an outstanding writer, but you also possess high emotional intelligence; understand how to interact effectively with senior executives; grasp how strong working relationships are as essential to the written product as skill with the pen; are focused on collaborating towards a common goal over individual glory; have a keen sense of how our firm's actions will be perceived by external observers; understand both the social contribution and the reputational challenges of the asset management industry; and read the news.

  • Write speeches, op-eds, memos, and other content for the Chairman and CEO and senior executives
  • Work closely with colleagues in Corporate Communications, as well as partners across the firm, to develop messaging on key reputational and business issues
  • Partner with Corporate Communications colleagues to develop clear and compelling responses to media inquiries
  • Edit documents, reports, and research papers

  • Bachelor's degree, plus 8+ years of experience in communications, politics, or government.
  • Experience interacting directly with senior leaders.
  • Outstanding writing and editing abilities.
  • Collaborative and creative approach.
  • Strong grasp and unique perspective on global affairs, politics, economics, and finance.
  • Clear knowledge of BlackRock's business and public profile
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
