Department Profile
Credit Risk Management (CRM) evaluates credit risk transactions and approves, rejects or modifies them considering the availability and appropriateness of arrangements for reducing risk or risk mitigation. The department also assigns Internal Credit Ratings; establishes and manages credit risk limits in accordance with the risk tolerance established by the Board; monitors and reports on credit risk exposures on a regular basis to the Chief Risk Officer and senior management. CRM also interacts with business units to ensure that credit risk assessments are factored into business decisions.

Position Description
Morgan Stanley is seeking a highly qualified candidate within the Wealth Management Credit Analytics team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong project management and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work within a team environment and manage to tight deadlines.

Primary job responsibilities include:
Project Management :
• Oversee the planning & execution of strategic projects related to enhancing the risk management treatments of MS Wealth Management products
• Strategic projects may entail building internal credit ratings methodologies for new WM client types, optimizing the Basel RWA treatments of various lending & derivatives products, or exploring new stress testing techniques to mitigate credit losses
• Work with stakeholders across Risk, Finance, and IT to manage strategic projects that improve process and data flows
• Produce documentation to capture project details and management presentations to effectively communicate milestones to senior risk management teams

Portfolio Analytics :
• Perform portfolio level analytics across various topics, such as stress loss forecasting, Basel capital calculations, or credit reserve modeling for Wealth Management retail and wholesale lending products
• Work with Credit Risk Methodology Group (CRMG) and Credit Underwriters to develop model methodologies to estimate Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), and Exposure At Default (EAD)
• Perform ad-hoc business analytics such as Return-on-Equity (ROE) or Limits analysis, to guide decision-making for Credit Risk teams and WM business units
• Analyze large data sets using SQL or Access, and build excel dashboards or visual tools to showcase result s

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • A t least 3 years of relevant experience in Risk Management (e.g., Credit, Liquidity, Market), Corporate Treasury, Technology Business Analyst or Business Planning roles
  • Previous project management experience, preferably for Wealth Management and/or Lending portfolios
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with ability to communicate effectively with senior management across various teams
  • Strong prioritization skills with ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated and proactive attitude, with an ability to work independently, if needed
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required; SQL, Access or VBA skills are a plus
