Sr. Specialist Developer - Java / Web Services (BPM / Workflow)

Join a dynamic team in Wealth Management Technology building a Workflow platform using many ground-up built components and modern open source frameworks.
The job holder will participate in the technical design, development and implementation of distributed applications for a java based BPM / Workflow platform.  S/he will develop solutions which integrate internal and external systems for a demanding customer base, utilizing capabilities for BPM platform technology in combination with Java and other open source standards.  S/he will write technical documentation for implementations and code deliverables. S/he will also utilize industry best practices to write new Java programs of moderate to high complexity.
Key Responsibilities include the following. 

  • Design, code and build complex modules and application systems
  • Contribute to all phases of software development lifecycle (Agile and traditional)
  • Provide support for the critical application systems, resolving issues in a timely manner


Qualifications
  • Experience with core java programming in a distributed web environment
  • Familiar with web and application server technologies like Apache, Tomcat, etc
  • Basic database skills (SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, No-SQL)
  • Familiar with web services (SOAP, REST)
  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field
  • BPM experience (especially tools like jBPM, Activiti, etc.) would be a plus
  • Web application tools and JavaScript technologies like jQuery, AngularJS would be a plus


Sr. Specialist Developer->> Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Analyzes, defines and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks, controls, and outputs using BNY Mellon's standard development methodology. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Contributes to defining time tables and project plans. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Takes lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring 'best practices' for technical development methodologies and tools. Proposes innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives. Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 8-10 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
