Assistant to the President
Special Assistant to the President/Senior Economic Analyst

About the Role:
The Special Assistant to the President is a Senior Economic Analyst who provides advice, assistance and input to the president and CEO in the form of speech writing and editing, economic data updates, preparing and organizing briefings. You will help build the presidents public speaking strategy and manage speaking engagements: vet and process speaking invitations; organize meeting agendas and logistics; coordinate with economists for speech content, outline, writing and editing; oversee final presentation and delivery; and manage online publication and broad distribution of texts. You will manage the presidents written publications, including letters for bank publications, memos and presentations. Be the primary liaison between the president and research department for several publications and strategic programs. You will keep research department apprised of presidents broad communications strategy and organize memos and briefings to accomplish that goal. Independently research appropriate topics and analyzes economic developments. Personally handle many diverse matters and questions, including answering substantive questions which may require research. Resolve and respond to routine and complex inquiries.

You Will:

  • Monitor economic developments with attention to the impact on the regional, national, or international economy and possible effects for U.S. monetary and regulatory policy
  • Develop knowledge of the president's method of operation and economic philosophy and maintain detailed knowledge of the Bank and Federal Reserve System affairs
  • Establish working relationship with department economists and monitor internal research projects
  • Organize communication between the CEO and department staff; be the liaison between the president and his professional contacts and external affiliations
  • Build the president's instructions by coordinating with multiple individuals, departments or external organizations
  • Identify appropriate speaking venues for president and negotiate with host organization on matters of logistics, substance and media
  • Organize teams of research economists and direct the production of relevant data and content
  • Gather and review available literature and data and convert findings into descriptive content; summarize content into logical, lucid language
  • Oversee revision process, fact- checking, and final publication
  • Provide briefing materials and written analysis for CEO and for research department reports and publications
  • Attend speeches, Bank meetings, select policy briefings and special events with/for the president
  • Arrange meetings and bilateral exchanges with Bank president and government officials and other central bank leaders
  • Respond to outside inquiries and provide advice to other Bank departments
  • Enhance professional development and maintain knowledge- theoretical and practical-in current events, bank operations, monetary policy and economic research

You Have:

  • Masters degree in economics, policy or business administration
  • 3+ years of private sector work experience
  • Solid knowledge of macroeconomic theory, microeconomics theory, and international economics
  • Strong writing abilities and project management skills
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements
