  • Position Summary:

    The Specialist, Information Services works with a regional team to provide research and information services to consulting and administrative staff using appropriate electronic, print, and other resources.  Frequently works as part of case teams to facilitate research planning, information management, training, and capture of research experience.  

    Core Responsibilities and Duties:


    • Conducts research for client teams, Practice Areas and client development utilizing electronic, print and other resources as assigned under the guidance of a Senior Information Services Specialist, Team Leader or Manager
    • Provides filtered and well organized research results
    • May participate as a member of an Industry Team supporting cases, responds to requests from client teams in the region; however, should also be proficient in conducting research in all areas of interest to Bain
    • Proactively works with Case Team to understand project context and specific information needs
    • May build industry and/or capability expertise by attending Practice Area meetings, industry conferences and by regular reading of trade and internal publications
    • Solicits feedback from internal clients

    Asset Building

    • Participates in asset building including contributions to the Information Services Portal, wikis and other projects as assigned
    • May participate as a member of an Industry Team
    • Participates in ongoing product and service evaluations, resource development activities, and in implementation as appropriate
    • Leads scheduled and just-in-time business research training for staff at all levels


    • Tracks personal research requests including cost recovery information
    • Participates in Information Services marketing
    • Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen skill set by participating in special projects
    • Provides ongoing support for asset-building activities including processing orders, acquisitions, cataloging, serials check-in, end-user system updates, tracking circulation of materials from the collection, and ongoing maintenance of print and other special collections
    • Processes invoices

    Position Qualifications:

    • Degree in Library Science from an accredited university or equivalent higher education degree
    • Three+ years of experience conducting business research in a fast-paced consulting, financial services or other business setting or equivalent preferred
    • Experience with Factiva, Thomson databases, and other business research tools preferred
    • Training and presentation skills
    • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in native language and English required
