Financial Sector Advisor

About the Role: 

We are looking for a versatile Financial Sector Advisor to conduct quantitative and qualitative monitoring and analysis of developments in financial markets (including credit and equity markets) to analyze and call attention to the implications for systemic risk, effects on capital availability, implications for regulatory and monetary policy, and the transmission of monetary policy. As the Financial Sector Advisor, you will analyze policy issues and identify financial industry trends, use statistical and mathematical models to predict future outcomes and characterize uncertainty, and report on financial market topics salient to financial stability and monetary policy.

You Will:

  • Independently prepare monthly and quarterly reports as well as ad hoc analysis for senior management and examination staff on current trends in District and national banks, particularly related to risk modeling
  • Gather and transform large, complex datasets to solve difficult and non-routine problems
  • Independently prepare and support original research on banking and financial markets topics, for Bank publications and presentations
  • Participate in analytical research projects through all stages from concept to a final report while collaborating with a cross-functional team to integrate solutions and/or issue policy recommendations
  • Compile, review, and assess information from market sources and training classes to maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in data analysis techniques

You Have:

  • Masters or higher degree in economics, accounting, business administration, statistics, or finance
  • 10+ years experience as a Financial Analyst or related position working in or with a firm involved in the financial industry
  • Strong familiarity with banking data and bank regulation
  • Strong analytical and written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work tight deadlines and handle multiple projects at once while remaining organized and meeting deadlines
  • Skilled in using Bloomberg to assess financial market developments, preferred
  • Skilled in using third party vendor software to extract data and conduct analysis (e.g., Haver, S&P Global Market Intelligence), preferred
  • Proficient in analyzing developments or producing research on U.S. equity market strategy, corporate debt trends and/or banking sector trends, preferred
  • CFA or FRM designation, preferred
  • Solid understanding of Federal Reserve monetary policy operations, preferred
  • Proficient in analyzing financial sector developments in other countries, preferred
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements
