Commissioned Bank Examiner / Risk Specialist, Large Banking Organization

About the Role:

We are looking for  Commissioned Bank Examiners/Risk Specialists to be part of a supervisory team responsible for two affiliated savings banks with assets aggregating more than $250 billion. You will lead and participate in examinations as part of our supervision model for Large Banking Organizations (LBOs). We are aiming to build a pod of LBO financial resiliency risk specialists or examiners, with specific expertise in areas including: capital planning and assessment; credit risk management, including retail credit; liquidity and investment management, including capital markets; market and interest rate management; and quantitative analysis, including model development and risk management. We prefer you be based in Dallas, TX. You will work with a team of five or six other individuals, which will be assisted by BSA/AML and IT specialists and other examiners as needed. You will work in a collaborative manner as you participate in examination and monitoring activities to supervise the savings banks.

You Will:

  • Partner with other examiners and risk specialists in a team environment to effectively build supervisory plans for these savings banks in the Dallas area
  • Analyze bank policies, procedures and controls related to safety and soundness examinations and propose regulatory conclusions and ratings related to your assigned risk discipline
  • Be an expert on the team for your assigned risk discipline, and help develop examination scope memos, assessment work programs, conclusion memos, and supervisory feedback letters and develop work papers to document your analysis and support your conclusions
  • Perform monitoring of your assigned risk areas, reporting on changes in inherent risks and risk management practices of the banks; this will include monitoring trends and developments through the review of internal risk management reports, regulatory filings and surveillance reports, and interaction with senior bank officials, other regulators, and internal auditors
  • Help assess the banks remediation of supervisory issues; provide clear, written and oral supervisory messages to firm leadership in collaboration with other examiners and risk specialists
  • Maintain a high level of expertise in your risk discipline and remain current on latest issues of relevance to the banks
  • Work with other examiners, risk specialists, representatives from the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending and analysts from the Board of Governors to recommend a variety of regulatory assessments
  • Develop relationships with examination team members and businesses  

You Have:

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in banking, financial services, or banking supervision
  • Examiner Commission and/or LBO supervisory experience preferred
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements
