This role is based in Dallas, Texas, and requires strong Federal Tax Experience and Accounting Methods

Job Profile Summary:

The Director, Federal Income Tax and Accounting Methods (Director) requires expertise in accounting and taxation to provide Federal Income Tax and Accounting Methods consulting services to corporate clients. The Director will work with a team to plan and execute International Income Tax projects.

Duties and Responsibilities, as they align to Ryans Key Results


  • Create a positive team experience.


  • Oversees tax planning projects for International Income Tax engagements for multinational clients, which includes project planning, project oversight, scheduling staff resources, and developing and implementing tax-planning solutions.
  • Leads global teams on tax-planning projects for clients in diverse industries, participates in engagements requiring tax analysis for multinational entities and their affiliates, researches and analyzes a wide range of tax issues, and develops and communicates/presents proposed solutions.
  • Writes technical documents to support the developed planning or in response to client requests on specific issues.
  • Travels to client locations globally, as needed, for planning meetings, data collection, fact gathering, plant tours, client visits, and other travel as required.
  • Assists in new client development and introduces new services to existing clients.
  • Works with colleagues in foreign offices and other service lines such as Transfer Pricing, Value-Added Tax (VAT), and State Income/Franchise Tax to develop and implement global solutions for clients.


  • Oversees file and research documentation protocol, data collection and organization, utilization of software, management of the process, and final review of results.
  • Drafts proposals, engagement letters, and presentations of ideas and solutions.
  • Develops and motivates engagement staff and provides leadership, counseling, and career guidance.
  • Prepares memoranda and relevant reports for senior managements review.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with accounting method assessment, design, and implementation of projects related to revenue and expense recognition, capitalized items, fixed assets, and inventories
  • Develop client work plans and schedules associated project deliverables.
  • Conducts key research for special projects and tax issues across US Service Delivery practice areas.
  • Prepares and conducts client presentations.
  • Assist with drafting responses to IRS inquiries and writing other technical memoranda
  • Assist with drafting related tax reporting requirements (e.g. Form 3115).
  • Work with cross functional teams to identify, scope, and deliver value.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree or Masters degree or equivalent in Accounting and/or Finance and 6+ Federal Tax related experience in public accounting or industry. Must have 3+ years experience in Accounting Methods in public accounting or industry.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.

Certificates and Licenses:

CPA Certified Public Accountant License Required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

As applicable, may directly supervise employees in their practice and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Firms policies and applicable laws.

Work Environment:

  • Standard indoor working environment.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
  • Occasional long periods of standing while copying.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 lbs.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone.
  • Independent travel requirement: 20 to 40%.
